We have been struggling with Wilson's feeding for about 6 weeks now and on Monday we finaaly got a dr. to listen to us. He looked in the back of his throat and saw that he has no ulvula and this is a sign of a cleft pallate. So off we went to the earppointment at Duke , nose and throat dr and feeding specialist who confirmed that he has a mild cleft pallate. Wel, by th grace and luck of God, we got an an appt at Duke w/ their cleft pallate team. We now have a speech therapist, audiologist, plastic surgeon, and an oral surgeon. He will have surgery at 9 months to fix the problem. He should have little impact on speech. We haved changed his bottles to use a pigeon botle for cleft babies. We have also bought special pacifers for him to.
the red dog actually helps him hold a pacifer, since he can't. We are estatic that we know what is finally wrong and how to fix it. The bottles made an instant change and he could eat easily for once in his little lifetime. we will keep you updated on everything as it progresses. it is time for wilson to have his bath
